Ugo Nespolo's artwork "ÜBERMENSCH" Superman is an original graphic work created using the mixed-media screen-printing technique on paper. The artwork measures 35x35 cm. From the very beginning of his career, artist Nespolo explored new expressive possibilities, maintaining close relationships with leading figures of Turin's cultural scene at the time.
The "puzzles" technique has become a distinctive hallmark of Nespolo's work. It derives from the pastime of "traforo" and is characterised by cut-out shapes fitted together to create original polychrome figures. This playful and hands-on approach results in works that combine popular and sophisticated references, creating an ongoing dialogue between high and low culture.
Nespolo also explored the interactive relationship between the arts, bringing his art into everyday life through design, advertising, stage sets and costumes for operas. His practical approach is founded on an ethic of making, leading him to blend art with life and promote a "futurist reconstruction of the universe" through visual communication.
The artwork "ÜBERMENSCH" Superman therefore represents both a point of departure and an arrival point for the artist, who continues to explore new expressive forms and reinvent himself through an endless series of thematic and formal pathways.
